It's the Little Moments to be Grateful for.

Good morning, Y'all! I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter!

We absolutely did. It was a true blessing to see the kids interact with extended family. If you don't follow me on Instagram, then you probably missed these adorable pictures. If you already follow, high fives to you!

A few highlights / meaningful moments from this weekend:
Meaningful Moments
+ Ainsley and Zander giving the biggest hugs to Great Aunts and Uncles that they've never even met before. Their love for anyone in our friends and family circles is truly a blessing. Seeing them interact with Josh's uncle from California was so precious yesterday.

+ Both kids' sense of selflessness is huge. They've really learned and grasped at a very young age that it's better to give than to receive. This was really shown yesterday and my heart swelled with pride.

+ Looking through old photo albums at my mom's and finding little gems of pictures with me and my sister
seriously though. how awesome were my red tights? Easter '93. I was 5.
+ Enjoying delicious food with family visiting from out of town.

+ Ainsley singing her ABC's for the first time.

+ Potty training success stories! Seriously. This is kind of a big deal, and I'll explain more in a few weeks with Mamas Tell All.

For all of these moments I am GRATEFUL.

I'm grateful that my kids are starting to learn the true meaning of Easter. I'm grateful for so many things, and this past weekend just really made my heart swell with the strong sense of family, love, and faith. I really needed this past weekend.

I should also ad, for the sake of my tribe, that my husband has finally made a doctor's appointment. I'm grateful that he's made the decision on his own to get his health (both mentally and physically) back as a priority. It may not seem like a big deal to some, but it is a big deal to our family.

How was your Easter weekend?

Blogger Men Tell All - March Edition

It's been awhile since I've been able to get Josh to participate in the blog. However, ladies and gents! He's back! He also picked his picture, so you're welcome!

Do you like to cook? If yes, what's your favorite thing to make?
No.
(Wife's note: when I tried to get more than a "no" I got a look and a snap back with "that is a simple yes or no question")
OK... what's your favorite thing that I make? (I had to add this just to get something out of him!)
taco lasagna.

What's the last movie you saw in a theatre?
(after thinking for awhile)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Can you name five makeup brands?
Olay, Maybelline, I don't know is coco chanelle one? (Direct quote).
Wife's note: He doesn't pay a whole lot of attention when it comes to my makeup. I'm impressed he got the first two!

What are your biggest pet peeves?
You talking to me while I'm trying to go to sleep.
OH! and your really cold feet and how they always end up touching me!
Wife's note: both of these are accurate.

What are your biggest goals in life right now?
Not to struggle financially! And to be able to give the kids what they want. And that's it. I really don't have any goals.
Wife's note: he's  man of few words. Good thing I do most of the talking!

There y'all have it! He's such a great sport for participating. Love this man of mine!

When Hiding in the Bathroom to Eat is Normal

Moms out there reading this, let's talk about something close to home for all of us. Hiding something that you're eating. We're all guilty of this. We've all done it. And, if you're shaking your head reading this saying, "nope, Never done that. I don't have to hide anything from the kids.", well to that I say you need some cheat snacks in your pantry!

Let's be honest with ourselves though. I'd say at least 99% of the moms reading would admit "YES! I have to have my hidden stash of *fill in the blank*" For me, it's york peppermint patties. I just love them. And I don't even like to share with my husband! Why in the world would I want to share with my kids?

Sure, that sounds rude. I'm sure there's folks (the 1 % that doesn't hide) out there that will say, "why even have them in the house at all?" Well, Mamas have to have a cheat day. Mamas have to have their go to snack treat that puts them into mommy heaven! Can I get an Amen?? I think it's safe to say that most moms will usually snack on their treats when the kids are in bed. But what about those hard days when nothing is going just right and you just have to have that fix of chocolate? How do you keep from your kids begging for the sweets too?

I have absolutely been known to hide in my bathroom. For the most part my kids still follow me in there. (When can I get privacy while I pee again?). Occasionally however, I can insist that they do not need to be in there with me. I insist that they go play and I promise to build them a couch fort for listening extra well!

When I know I can get away with sneaking a bite I definitely do that in the kitchen. I have loud kids. A two year old and a five year old play loudly. This goes to my benefit in that I can open a wrapper of something without them hearing me. I'll open quickly, sneak a big bite and run out of the kitchen. Sometimes I get busted with this though when Zander asks me a question and I have to purse my lips shut and hold up one finger as if to say "one second". He's a smart 5 year old. He knows not to talk with your mouth full, and he always knows my "one second" finger means I have food in my mouth. He always ALWAYS asks, "what's in your mouth mommy?" Thankfully, I can still get away with saying, "nothing". I'm sure it won't last long though!

I'm not ashamed of hiding from the kids though. I'm 95% sure my mom probably hid stuff from me and my sister. I'm fairly sure she hides from my little brothers now. Moms, you have to indulge sometimes. Moms for sure need a break! Sometimes that break and that indulgence comes in the form of an impromptu game of hide and seek. (True story: you hide, they will come looking for you!)

It's a little more difficult to hide something like these though!

What have you done to hide food from the kids? Do you hide in the bathroom? The closet?
