Around the Horn: Favorite Player

Y'all, are you as excited as I am that baseball season is literally right around the corner? I didn't get to talk baseball last week because I was busy vlogging with the best of 'em. Sorry, Kasey. I promise to do better!

I'm going to be honest, y'all. It doesn't really take much for a player to make it to my "favorites" list. I mean, they all wear those really amazing tight pants, right? I do have two people that immediately jump to mind.

Bobby Cox.
Yes, he is retired and he hasn't actually played baseball since 1970 but he did play! He retired as the Braves manager. He's one of my favorites because it was always fun to see how many times he would get thrown out of a game. It was a sport in and of itself. It was exciting and hilarious at the same time. Don't believe me? Watch...

and my other favorite?
Brian McCann.
I can (kind of) forgive him for going to the Yankees. Kind of. I'm still a little sore about that. Not only do I feel like he's a great player, but he also had really great at bat music when he was with the Braves. As far as I know, he doesn't have at bat music with the Yankees. The last song he had with the Braves was All I Do is Win. I can't help it, y'all. I just really love this song for some reason.
So there you have it. I'm a cheap date and will add you to my favorites list if you have tight pants, fun music, and get kicked out of a game.

Happy Dance For the Weekend!

Happy Saturday!! You may notice a few changes around here. Don't worry, don't panic... you're still in the right place. The lovely Amanda @ Knock On Wood has given my little corner of the internet a face lift. This is why she's so great. Shameless plug, go check out her design page.

So, Y'all, I have officially made it through one WHOLE week at my new job, and I survived! I lived to tell the tale, and yes I will be going back for more. haha. Now that everyone is starting to get more comfortable with me, the pranks and jokes are starting to become more frequent now that they know I have similar senses of humor that they do. It's absolutely been a wonderful week!

Can we talk about this video for a second though? I saw this on the news last night and I got goosebumps. I totally emailed Kerri immediately after watching and said she had to watch the video ASAP. Her reply? "AHHHH holy crap ok the hairs on my arm are standings straight up right now that video is amazing" Yes.... my sentiments exactly. Just take a moment and watch. 
I've been really proud of myself because I've been able to schedule a lot of my blog posts, but Friday Favorites with Meagan are difficult to schedule. You see, this is one of those things I actually follow the rules on and you post faves from that week. It's still this week, and therefore here we are!!
What a great week it has been!

+ Lindsay / Bourbon, Lipstick & Stilettos. She's constantly one of my favorites. I ALMOST mentioned this post with bourbon hot chocolate, because hi, I'm Melissa and I enjoy adult beverages. However, on Friday Lindsay posted this gem about GRAMMAR!! 100% YES!!! It still shocks me that people don't get it (you're / your) ugh. Thanks for sharing Lindsay!

+ Amanda / Knock on Wood. She SANG on her blog. How awesome is she? I mean I know I say it a lot but that took GUTS! I especially love the bloopers at the end. Technically that was last week, but I did love her this week as well with what she's Thankful for.

+ Rebecca / The Adventures of Bug and Boo. Rebecca and I are both moms to very young, very strong-willed children. So when she posted A Battle of Wills, it spoke right to my heart.

+ Kasey at the Bat wrote about my favorite thing EVER! Christmas Movies!!! I mean, we're a week away from Thanksgiving! Time to start embracing that Christmas is almost here!

+ All of the Link Your Ink posts hosted by Cassie at Sage and Kaitlin at Sew my Soul. It was so much fun reading about everyone's tattoos and the stories behind them. So fun. Great link up, ladies.

What a crazy week it's been, right? Or is it just me? Either way, TGIF and even better that it's a long weekend! Happy Labor Day in advance! I may or may not show up for the party on Monday. Kids are out of school, and hubby and I are off work, so we may go to the lake or something fun!

That being said, it is Friday and on Fridays we share the love with Meagan! I had so many favorite posts this week it wasn't even funny, y'all. It was definitely hard to pick just a few!

 

+ Ashley at That Southern Mama cracked me up this morning with "How to be a Mama Blogger". Ok, honestly she cracks me up daily, and I love her sense of taste for fashion and home decor. If you're a mama or soon to be mama and in the blogging community, you will appreciate this post from Ashley.

 

+ Meagan at All the Joys confessed this week. (And I may have stollen her idea to do the same thing). Moms are busy, moms work hard... so what's wrong with a marshmallow for breakfast? As long as the kids are happy and you know they'll get some sort of nutrition later on in the day, right? Right. No judgement here!

 

+ Meg at Love, Life and the Webers post from Wednesday Wishes was just "like, whoa". She asks the question, "Why can't my son be a princess for Halloween?" My immediate response was "he can!", but with the way society is and with everyone being so judgemental, it's hard. I loved reading the comments on her post too: so much encouragement toward her.

 

+ Cassie at Sage the Blog took us to COSTA RICA this week, y'all! How fun, right? I love seeing her pictures each week from wedding pics, to trips, etc. Cassie is very talented and very sweet, and no I'm not just saying that: it's true!

Friday Favories plus a Vlog!

I am the ultimate slacker. I don't think I participated in a single "blog everyday in July" prompt. OKAY... maybe slacker is a bad way to put it, even though it's true, but mostly after I started work I just got way too busy. Anyone else notice my posts going from 4 a week to two... maybe three? Yep. It happened.

HOWEVER! When Allie announced that the week would be finished with a bang (OK I lied she didn't really say that but that's what I read) I decided early in the week I'd participate today. Warning: I didn't edit anything, I'm pretty sure Zander asks me something in the middle, and I don't always look at the camera. So, translation: I'm not a professional "vlogger" LOL... also, SO sorry for all of the "um's" I'm laughing at myself so hard.

I'm so sorry for that embarrassing video, y'all. I can do nothing but laugh at myself.

+Lora lost a small child recently!!!

...and I say that in only the best way possible. Lora continues to amaze me with her postitive outlook and her continuous weight loss. It's really NOT easy to lose as much weight as she has, and I really admire how well she's done!

I laughed so hard reading this post. For two reasons: 1- my oldest has said all of these at some point and 2- her sweet little girl sounds so grown up! If you're around children for long periods of time, you will appreciate this post!

If they're in school or have a really amazing babysitter like I do, they come home daily with so many CRAFTS! Meagan shared her genius idea on how to de-clutter and save all of the precious memories! Isn't she awesome?

Wednesday confessions. I admit it, I'm a sucker for any sort of confession post. I love feeling like other bloggers live normal lives like I do, and that not all posts are sponsored. + Lora's Honest Post. We've all had those days where we hate the way we look or feel, and we can't fit into what we want to wear. Lora reminds us to essentially "just keep swimming" and love yourself!

+ Amanda's Getting to know her post. I've known Amanda for YEARS, and even though I knew most of what she posted this is still a favorite because she cracks me up with her answers. She's a silly goose. Yep. I said it.

+ Kay's Vegas List! I've never been to Vegas (read: the west coast), so it was fun to see the sights from a real person's POV and not just the T.V. / Movie side of things.

+ Katherine's Day in the Life post. I am a sucker for the photo an hour and live blog my day type of stuff. I'm nosey. We all know I'm a creeper now, so it makes sense that I enjoyed this post. Plus, Frozen! #ILoveDisney (way too much)

+ Becca's Movie Night! It was here I learned Pop Secret has an app to tell you exactly when your popcorn is perfect. WHAT?! That my friends is amazing. I still have yet to use it, mostly because I don't have any popcorn in the house, but the fact it exists is fantastic.
