I'm Such a Bad Runner!

Y'all, I haven't been to the gym since May. It's officially August! That's nearly three months that I haven't lifted weights or done any serious cardio. The plus side? I haven't gained any weight. The downside? I haven't lost any weight either. I've maintained. Which, I suppose isn't the worst thing in the world, but I'm very disappointed in myself that I haven't done more to get / stay in shape.

September is quickly approaching. Which of course means,  I have a 5k to run. My aunt that's running it with me has been doing so good in working out everyday! I just suck. It's my own damn fault though. When I lost my old job, I stopped going to the gym. I just couldn't justify paying a gym membership when paying my light bill was there too. After that, I stayed home with the kids and just stopped working out. I knew it would happen... I don't have the motivation to do anything at home. I tell myself all the time that I need to.

So why don't I? Why don't I just get off my ass and do something?
I have every excuse under the sun as to why, and I know y'all have heard them all. From "I'm too tired" to "I'm too busy". The busy part really isn't true anymore. By the time I get home from work, I still have time in the day to work out. I just don't. Honestly, I'm just too lazy.

What am I really trying to say in this post? I don't know. I started out thinking I was going to pump myself up and get this whole plan together about how I would work out "x" amout during the week, but if I'm really honest with myself that's not going to happen. I'm not sure what needs to change or what I need to do. Maybe y'all can give me some pointers in the comments. Who knows.

I do know I will still be running the Run or Dye race next month. I may be slower than turtles in peanut butter, but damnit I'll be racing! I do know I absolutely don't want to gain any weight back. We like this girl, and we want her to lose another 25-30 lbs!

DIY Bed Rail

OK, I have to start by saying I CANNOT take credit for this DIY post!
Back story: This past weekend we converted Ainsley's crib into a toddler bed. I didn't know if she was ready or not, but we did it because Zander's was converted at 18 months. We figured if she didn't do well, we could put the crib side back on until she was ready.

The way Ainsley's crib is set up is it is a convertible crib, but there was no side rail to keep her from falling off. I knew she needed one, but I didn't want to pay for one. This is where pinterest came in handy. I found tons of posts about DIY bed rails for toddlers. I figured, why not try it! It's cheap, and simple, and worth a shot.

What you'll need:
+ Toddler bed w/ mattress (this could work for older kids too that still fall out of bed!)
+ Fitted Sheet
+ Thick pool noodle
+ knife or scissors

  • Start by measuring the noodle to the mattress. ** We had to cut down the noodle to fit where we wanted it on Ainsley's bed.
  • Lift fitted sheet on the side of the bed that you want the "rail" to go.
  • Place noodle under the sheet.
  • Simple as that.

The Finished Product!!

As you can see, it looks just like a regular bed.
I read some reviews of people trying this and it didn't work because their kids kicked the noodle out of place, but after Ainsley using it this past weekend for naps and bedtime, she didn't kick it loose and she didn't fall out. So Camacho Family Verdict: YES to DIY Bed rail! Highly recommended.

Ainsley Likes it too:

Friday Favories plus a Vlog!

I am the ultimate slacker. I don't think I participated in a single "blog everyday in July" prompt. OKAY... maybe slacker is a bad way to put it, even though it's true, but mostly after I started work I just got way too busy. Anyone else notice my posts going from 4 a week to two... maybe three? Yep. It happened.

HOWEVER! When Allie announced that the week would be finished with a bang (OK I lied she didn't really say that but that's what I read) I decided early in the week I'd participate today. Warning: I didn't edit anything, I'm pretty sure Zander asks me something in the middle, and I don't always look at the camera. So, translation: I'm not a professional "vlogger" LOL... also, SO sorry for all of the "um's" I'm laughing at myself so hard.

I'm so sorry for that embarrassing video, y'all. I can do nothing but laugh at myself.
Don't worry, we're not going to end this Friday with that. We're still linking up to share the blog love with Meagan!

+ Seriously, Sarah? Tells us about blogging friends.
I love this post because it's just the truth. Her advice is solid and you should listen to her. Or just be awesome and read her post, and then tell her how awesome she is!

+Lora lost a small child recently!!!
...and I say that in only the best way possible. Lora continues to amaze me with her postitive outlook and her continuous weight loss. It's really NOT easy to lose as much weight as she has, and I really admire how well she's done!

+ Ashley is That Southern Mama and her toddler says some funny stuff!
I laughed so hard reading this post. For two reasons: 1- my oldest has said all of these at some point and 2- her sweet little girl sounds so grown up! If you're around children for long periods of time, you will appreciate this post!

+ Rebekah at Living Lavender  tells us why this Famer's Market is the bomb.com
The Dekalb Famer's Market. It's huge, it's cold, it's crowded... but it's SO worth it, y'all!

Cassie at Sage the Blog shares wedding pictures!
Who doesn't love wedding pictures? I know I love them, and I'm pretty sure I told Cassie that in my comments. This week she shared her pictures from getting ready for the wedding, and they're just stunning!

And
+ Bonus Round: all of the beautiful ladies that weren't "trying so hard" this week! You can find links to all of them at either Nicole's, Jade's, or Kate's pages.
