Things I Don't Understand

OK. So I think it's safe to say that the internet is a big place. Correct. There are things in these big interwebs that I just don't understand. Given that it's Friday, I feel the need to share with you. So, you're welcome.

|| Mermen hair trends.
Why is this even a thing? I'm a fan of expressing oneself with hair, tattoos, clothes, etc. BUT. I don't get this one. I found this while scrolling facebook the other day. Y'all. Some of these guys have matching beards. I'll let that one sink in for a minute.
Mermen Style
|| Selfie Sticks.
Technically these are not an internet thing. I still don't get them. I mean... I do, but I don't. My biggest question. HOW do you actually TAKE the picture? I saw this meme on facebook Wednesday night. This got me asking the previous question. Now, inquiring minds want to know.

|| Hot Dog Pizzas
Y'all. This is a thing. Like, we should all know by now that I'm a huge fan of pizza. Give me all the pizza. But, y'all. Why did they have to put hot dogs on the crust? This is just a hard no. WHY is this a thing.

|| On Fleek.
This term. Why does it exist and where does it come from? According to Urban Dictionary:
"the quality of being perfect, or on point."
Why can't we just use "on point" anymore? Am I really getting to be that old, y'all? I'm not even 30 yet. Not even close. Well. Almost.

|| Drop That Kitty
This song. Y'all. I was first introduced to this at one of the many award shows that take place at the beginning of the year. I thought it was strange then, and for some stupid reason it stuck in my head. You really don't need to listen to the entire song to fully understand the stupidity of the song. But this is on youtube. With over 10 million views. Don't understand.

So what's out there that you don't understand? Anything I've left out that needs to be here immediately.
Happy Friday, Llama friends! xoxo

  2. That selfie stick meme was definitely made by Filipinos! I've seen that before; can't stop lauging at how ridiculously creative these photos are. Hahaha!

  3. I had not seen any merman hair yet! (But I have seen women with dyed armpit hair - which is even more baffling to me.) As for selfie sticks...I think they take the picture by setting the timer, then putting the phone in position?

  4. Wow so not being on Facebook has made me miss basically all of this. Never saw merman hair or that music video...yikes!

  5. HAHAHAHA
    Wait merman hair? This is a thing? I haven't seen this yet....
    And I remember the first time I heard someone say something was "on fleek" I was so confused...I had to have someone explain it to me.

  6. Of my gosh if you do please send pictures!! That would be hilarious!! I seriously could not believe this was a real trend

  7. HHahaha I saw it and laughed so hard. Creative for sure!! I still don't understand how the selfie sticks work though

  8. Omg I completely forgot about women dying their armpit hair! What is going on in the world?? And the timer makes sense. But I don't think my phone has a timer. (Thanks android). Oh well

  9. Well the music video I saw preformed at one of the music awards this year. I couldn't believe it. But it stuck with me so I guess good marketing?? Lol

  10. Apparently it's a thing. I just don't understand why. Lol. I still don't get any on fleek is a thing (my phone didn't even know that word).... Promising hahaha.

  11. You basically fasten your phone on the other end of the stick, and it's controlled by a remote via bluetooth. I should know because I've used one before! It's convenient for taking group selfies. ;)

  12. LOL well, maybe MAYBE hubs and I will look into one for the family vaca in Sept. hahaha

  13. RIGHT?!?!!! whyyy is that a thing???

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well, I think you should! Saves you the trouble of having a tripod in tow all the time. ;) Perhaps there's one in Daiso!

  15. What. About. "BAE". I don't get that one at all! I hate it!

    Also... Men are doing the mermaid hair thing? I mean, I disliked it enough on female celebrities and such. But on MEN?!?!

  16. OMG I completely forgot about bae when I wrote this. I DON'T GET IT. like, it's a danish word for POOP... and people are calling each other poop. whyyyy??

    and yeah... the mermen thing has to stop.

  17. OMG i had no idea about the 'merman' trend! i have never heard or seen this and i sort of like it (but not for my husband). it's totally weird though! i rolled my eyes at the selfie-stick too but then my husband came home with one and we did find it made our photos look a lot better when we were traveling and no one else was around to take our photo (i still feel dumb using it though)

  18. Never even heard of "fleek". I'm apparently out of the loop on that. I still say "on point". Let's use the word we already have correctly instead of making up new ones. That's my thought. Haha.

  19. Some of the Selfie Sticks work with bluetooth - mine came with a controller so I can click it with my other hand.

  20. I've only heard a few people say it. I had to look up the "definition" online to write this. Of course it's in the urban dictionary and not the Webster's. Lol. I'm with you. Let's just use "on point"

  21. Some of them did look pretty cool. I don't know where people came up with these. Lol. I risky laughed very hard about your selfie stick! I get why they can be useful but I still think they're silly. There officially banned from the Disney Parks though

  22. I'm guilty of using "on fleek" ironically. And yes that drop that kitty song! Ugh, stop.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wait...mermen hair is ACTUALLY a thing? WHY? No thank you. That creeps me out. And yes makes me definitely think of The Little Mermaid.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes! What in the world is up with the mermaid twin? To each
    their own, I guess. But I just don’t get it either. Oh friend, I love my selfie
    stick. It’s great for taking group photos. Mine bluetooths and has a button on
    the stick that you press to take photos. Those that are not Bluetooth capable
    you would just set your timer. Hot dog
    pizzas make me gag. No. Just no.

    ReplyDelete
  25. YES TO ALL OF THIS. And don't ruin my pizza with hot dogs - just yuck.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Exactly!!! Hard pass!! Hahaha I just don't get it

    ReplyDelete
  27. I don't get the hot dogs in pizza. Like pizza is already fatty enough. Just stop America. Lol. So maybe selfie sticks are OK but I'm not sure we'd get one lol

    ReplyDelete
  28. I always feel like those trend pieces are really just a small group of people in Brooklyn (yes there specifically) that had a photo shoot one day and submitted their work to some online magazine...and the writer ran with it, making it a trend, not the other way around.

    Also, I sooo don't get on fleek, but I do say "bye Felicia" all the time. I find it hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Merman Hair.... what? And HUGE no to hotdog pizza.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Riiiighttt??? Leave pizza alone!!! Lol. I still don't get mermen hair
