Y'all, I'm a newly stay at home mom... In case you didn't already know. The job description doesn't call for me having to dress up or impress anyone. It's really such a relief though! I can literally stay in my PJ's all day if I want to. The kids could too.
I do, however get myself and the kids dressed daily. We do go outside to play and that usually requires real clothes. Especially since it's been so cold lately.
You know what though? Not making an effort doesn't make me feel less beautiful. I don't need makeup or fancy clothes to make me feel pretty. In fact, I prefer to feel that way.
My kids are always watching me. Always. (Let's face it, y'all... I don't even pee in private). TMI? Maybe. But it's the truth.
What does that have to do with anything though? Well, I feel like carrying myself in a way that says "I feel good no matter what" is an important lesson to my kids. Eventually they'll both be in the real world. I want them to know that you don't need to look a certain way to feel beautiful. True beauty comes from the inside.
So, yes... I AM beautiful. I'm beautiful because I say so. I'm beautiful because I have two amazing kids and a supportive husband. I'm beautiful because I have the best blogging tribe, EVER. I don't need fancy makeup, clothes, or hair products. I'm good knowing that I am full of love.
It's taken me many, many years to get to that point. If you had asked me 5 years ago, I most likely wouldn't have been so confident. Sad, yes. True, absolutely. But I'm past that. I grew up.
To you reading this post, you ARE beautiful. You don't need anything to make you look beautiful. You have a beautiful soul. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
And guess what else?

So true!! You are beauty...love your honesty and vulnerability here. 😘
ReplyDeleteYes, you are beautiful!! I love this. It's hard. Being at home, makes you want to stay warm and cozy, but I couldn't agree more. I have three little girls to set an example for. When they tell me "you look pretty mama" while I am in jeans and a sweater, it melts my heart. I want to teach them the importance of caring for themselves, but that their beauty always comes from the inside-out. Lovely!! xo
ReplyDeleteYES! having littles watching your every movement makes you realize how you look at yourself much more. I make a conscience effort to not say anything negative about myself in front of the kids. I don't want them growing up thinking badly of themselves. Thanks for stopping by sweetie! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great philosophy! It will help your kids so much as they grow up.
ReplyDeleteYou are so beautiful. It does't take makeup and fixed hair and a put together outfit to be beautiful. You as you is just great! You rock your beauty inside and out!! You are such a great role model for your kids, they are blessed!
ReplyDeletehashtag babetown usa. also. I don't think anyone really needs makeup, to be honest. I think that Roald Dhal "
ReplyDeleteA person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely" is the most true thing ever spoken.
ALL THE LOVE!! you're so great! :) That quote is just perfect. <3 <3 and yes, no one NEEDS the makeup. it's fun to play dressup every now and then. I mean, what girl doesn't like to occasionally?? but yes. ALL THE YES! loveeee youuuuu

ReplyDeleteYou are beautiful. And you are doing what is right for you and your family. No one can tell you it's wrong, because it isn't. I love you Llama.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely don't need make up to be beautiful! You are beautiful just the way you are!
ReplyDeleteYou ARE beautiful, lady! You know what's funny... ever since I started working from home - I've realized that as much as I love the yoga pants and hair on top of my head, it's still fun to dress up even if it's just for myself somedays. I've also found that sometimes that helps me 'get to work' when it comes to writing. (I'm sure this comes from the way I felt when I worked in corporate land). I rarely put on makeup when I stay home though... which makes it extra fun putting it on when I go out ;) haha. All of this to say- I think whatever a person has to do to feel beautiful (whether it's not getting dressed up/makeup or it IS getting dressed up/makeup), more power to them. As they say, "You do you!" XO
ReplyDeleteAwww I love this! I think it's really easy for moms to feel frumpy, but just like you said our kids are watching. How we treat ourselves is how they will treat themselves. It's tough. I get dressed too, makeup and hair, then I put on comfy yoga pants haha :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up Melissa. I absoutely loves us. It is our soul and heart that defines us...not clothing, a job, our appearance, or anything like that. You truly ARE beautiful and I'm so glad you know it, XO!
